Welcome to the Ravine

Despite the Dodgers record of 2-4, today is Opening Day! Well, the home opener at least. The Dodgers will play their first home game of the 2010 season at 1:10 PST at Dodger Stadium. Los Angeles has had a slow start to the season, losing four out of six games to the Pirates and Marlins. Dodgers fans are without a doubt anxious, as they have seen the pitching staff struggle tremendously, which was the main concern going into the season. However, one of the beauties of baseball is the length of the season, and there is more than enough time to turn the ship around.

The Dodgers will attempt to begin this ship-turning effort this afternoon against division rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Los Angeles will send Clayton Kershaw to the mound looking for his first win of the season. He struggled with his control in his first outing, giving up 3 runs and 6 walks in only 4.2 innings pitched. Kershaw, who was supposed to be the anchor of the Dodgers staff this year, will have to put forth a solid effort this afternoon, and going further into the season.
